Equipment

Equipment systems for measuring parameters of meteorology, hydrology, hydrodynamics and marine environment; Laboratory equipments for chemical and environmental analysis; GIS system and professional software in marine hydrodynamics and environment fields.

Activities

    Researching on formation and evolution of hydrodynamic and sediment transport processes and on marine environment;
    Field-surveying and monitoring of meteorological and hydrodynamical factors and seawater quality;
    Maintaining and developing a marine data bank to assistant scientific researches and socio-economical and national defense projects;
    Developing measurement techniques for data processing, numerical simulation and GIS.

Major Achievements

    Researched comprehensively and scientifically on typhoon surges in Vietnam sea and resulted in typhoon surge characteristics, technology procesure and software for predicting typhoon surges in Vietnam coastal zone. The obtained results have been applied in planning, designing and building sea dikes and coastal instructions.
    Carried out field serveys and analyzed on marine hydrodynamical and environmental parameters for simulating, forecasting and researching on hydrodynamics, sediment transport, beach evolution, seawater quality and environment, pollution and oil spill... Having implemented the Middle marine environment station in order to make the annual environment status report.
    Setup and updated a data base on marine meteorology, hydrology, hydrodynamics and environment, including map atlases of marine nature and environment.
    Developed and improved a numbers of software for calculating, forecasting water levels, currents, sediment, beach evolution, marine water quality, pollution and oil spill. Some software have transfered for Vietsovpetro, JVPC and National Centre for hydro – meteorological forecasting.
    Chaired and implemented successfully: 3 international projects, 7 national projects and many ministrical and basic research projects.
