Backgrounds The Institute of Mechanics was established on April the 10th, 1979 under the government decision No 147/CP as an institution of National Centre for Scientific Research of Vietnam. Former directors of the Institute were: - Prof. Academician. Nguyen Van Dao 1979-1990

The institute has approximately 150 staff including 17 Prof. and Assoc. Prof., 39 Dr. Sc. and PhD, more than 20 MSc. and 70 with bachelor degrees. The institute has equipment for measuring and analysing vibration and acoustic signals; monitoring and analysing the environment; studying fluid and gas flow characteristics and powerful computer software.
